With a more high fidelity sound than their demo cassette Optic Nerve explodes out the gate on this one. Trebly striking guitars a-la D Boon, a comparison a band like this will never escape, as well a rhythm section that’d give the tightest session musicians a run for their money. You might be reminded of JFA or many of the great punk & hardcore groups recording on Gadigal land for the past 10 years. The four-song cynical EP shows the new direction the band is taking. A more nihilistic and sonically interesting turn that encompasses elements of country, hardcore and that Sydney sound you’ve all come to love. I really can hear the geography in this but am pleasantly surprised by it’s use of acoustic guitar, schizophrenic drum patterns and Jackie’s furious vocal style. All present on the demo but now you can really hear the layers of texture. These elements come together in an exciting way making In A Fast Car Waving Goodbye one exciting short player and cements Optic Nerve as one of Australias most premier and important bands in the bustling Australian underground.

i dont think i can fully articulate how much this taps into my passions, its just a perfect cocktails of sounds and ideas i love in music so very dearly. the lyrics and vocals kick ass and its some of the best fusing of dungeon synth ideas ive heard, its just an unstoppable force! must be heard to be believed sillyclay6
